A New Years Resolvement??

And so here we go again. The rich get richer, the poor go to hell in a hand basket. Let’s take this debacle they are calling “sub-prime lending”. The proposition is to relieve the companies that are in trouble. But isn’t it because of them that the problem even exists? If they hadn’t sold out to the highest bidder, then had that bidder increase the percentage rate, thereby increasing the mortgage payment to the homeowner, there wouldn’t BE a problem. Lower and middle income families are now starving to pay exhorbant monthly payments to the banks because of higher interest rates. And what is our government doing about this? They are GIVING money to the banks that caused this, and offering monetary loans to homeowners if and only if they have a good credit rating. Meaning, of course, that they haven’t missed any of there mortgage payments. Excuse me for being stupid, but…. Doesn’t it make sense that if you can pay your mortgage, YOU DON’T NEED HELP AS MUCH AS THOSE THAT CANNOT AFFORD THEIR PAYMENTS?? Sounds like typical backwards thinking to me. All this will do is increase the defaults on homes and put the lower and middle income earners deeper in the hole that the “lenders” put them in. If our illustrious government really wants to help, they need to realize just who needs to take advantage of the prosperity being offered here.
Now, on to other things even more important. Unless, of course, you are totally self-absorbent. The world has become quite the small little neighborhood. You can course the planet in under a week, hopping from plane to plane. Everybody is switching over to euro-dollars in an attempt to even out the playing field. Almost everyone. Greed is one of the greatest factors in war. Yet, weren’t we originally taught to share what we have with others less fortunate? We go to war because somebody wants what somebody else has. We damage reputations and blame it on someone else. Greed has taken this world beyond the borders of conscience. Nobody seems to care about your neighbor. After all, to do so would be a sign of weakness. Divide and conquer. Take that which the weak cannot defend. Build your stockpiles of booty, display them to all, and then remember to go to your place of worship and lie to the one you call Savior, God, Allah. Act the part to those that attend with you, then curse them under your breath as you smile and wave good-bye at the end of services. Granted, not all that believe in a Higher Power behave like spoiled brats. But many that have the power to change things do it for stature in stead of by the Book. And that “Book” is in reference to the Great books of religion. And once again, remember… these books were written a very long time ago, depicting the world as it was, not as it is. The premise may be the same, but the ways in which to reach the answers may change. And just because a person creates hell on earth, do not blame an entire religion for the actions of a minority. There will always be “extremists”. Judge them on their actions, not on their faith.
I remember my first experience with extremists. It was in Madison, Wisconsin during the Vietnam war. There were protests everywhere to end the war, to get out of Vietnam. And to prove the issue, two brothers and their cohort BOMBED the University of Wisconsin in Madison, subjecting everyone there to an imposed curfew. I still don’t understand what peaceful message they were trying to get across. I do know this. Violence begets violence and nothing more. It takes more effort to keep the peace than it does to continue a war. Education is flawed when you wind up teaching the wrong lessons. In the wrong hands, politics and religion are dangerous weapons.
Funny how Faith, Religion and Greed seem to carry where ever one travels. Without a need for faith, religion falters and greed takes over. The extremists win. Is this what you truly want? Just sit on your rear and let the world pass you by because you can’t change anything anyway. It is your faith alone that sets you free. If you believe in the just and proper, and extend that into your everyday life, practicing as you go, you can overcome many obstacles. And the more that practice, the more obstacles are eliminated. The movie “Pass It Forward” is a great example. Though the ending may be sad, the message is real. Watch it and learn. We are supposed to be brothers and sisters in this close-knit world. It’s time to start acting like a functional family. In our personal life as well as in business.
Big business is getting out of hand. The larger they get, the less laws they have to follow. Just pay off the lower limbs and everything will be forgotten or buried. Or change the management, but keep the old philosophy. Let’s kill the Earth in our lifetime, eh? That way there will be no legacy. No lesson learned.
Here’s something that has perplexed parents for sometime now. Something the great Education Department has come up with. To insure that all parties are treated with the same malice, both the aggressor and the victim are to be given the SAME punishment. Now, pray tell, what does that teach our children? Only that it is better to be the aggressor than the victim. And it doesn’t matter if there are witnesses to the crime of who is bullying whom. They will both receive the exact same punishment. How stupid can we become? We tell our children not to bully others, then the Education Department demands it from our kids! And because this has been set in stone in more than one state, it obviously stems from the outcropping of a political battle, though it’s hard to tell if the war was a victory or a defeat. We need to keep better tabs on the Board of Education in this country or we’ll be raising criminals instead of geniuses. Or maybe a combination of the two.
Those of you that know me or know of me understand the need for change. And my feelings for what really needs to be done to help us to survive in this crazy world. Those that don’t know me will either pass me off as a flake or try to take away my freedoms. But regardless of what becomes of me, the essence will always be there. For I am not the only one that sees the season of change that hides around the corner. This is not a call to arms or a cause for rebellion. It is a cause for necessity for the species. We either live and love together or perish in the hell we have allowed to create. Mistakes are made. There is no perfection except for in the mind, for once presented to reality, it will always somehow, erode. It may take thousands of years, but there is always the eventuality of it. We need to learn how to properly correct our mistakes, ask forgiveness of those mistakes as well as forgive those who err, and seek atonement for the misgivings. In all aspects of life. This is not a religious statement as much as it is a spiritual one.
We can make a difference. Together. Regardless of the way we practice our faith (and we ALL have faith in something… even agnostics), we are all human. We have a need to survive. And a need for communion with each other. If we try hard enough, we can fix the problems we face. But we can’t do it alone. We need each others love, compassion, kindness and understanding to survive.

Let’s make a positive difference in 2008.

Beginnings

No, I wasn't born in a log cabin out in the backwoods, nor do I aspire to become the next President of the United States. I am a Spirit Walker. Those that know the meaning can understand. Those that don't should find out. I have been blessed by the Great Holy One in many aspects of my life, and as a human, have screwed them up more than once, to be sure. Yet, as long as I follow the path, good things happen (when they are supposed to... not when I prefer them). At 49 years in life, I have been counselling since the age of thirteen in many factions of life. If you have valid questions, I will answer when I find the time as I work as a chauffeur 7 days a week and barely have time as it is. I couldn't resist the "Knot N Sane" as I have been called many things in my 49 years for my way of thinking. Which brings me to this blog. For some years now, I have been writing to friends and associates about many things. Especially at years end. Now I choose to use this format to do so, as well. Educate yourselves well or be trapped by your own ignorance. Peace and Goodwill to all.
